After a first program of checks and maintenance back in the Albany Waterfront Marina, the M4 has returned to its King George Sound site. We are happy to share that this time was well spent:
- Having learnt from the first weeks of real ocean conditions, we replaced the encoder mounts in the power generators with sturdier ones.
- To reduce damage from chafing, both hawsers are wrapped in sleeves now, and protective rubber mats have been added on the front float.
- An additional science protocol has been developed, and first data has been collected, to document and quantify marine growth on the floats.
And yes, we also had to clean the solar panels, courtesy of defecating seabirdsā¦
